NANO on-chain message encoder (Steganography tool)

This tool utilizes decimal bytes 32 to 96 of the ASCII charset table to encode messages in decimal numbers. 2 digits are used for each letter. Since RaiBlocks equals a vast 10^30 "raw" per XRB, you can use the lower digits to transmit about 13 characters for less than 1 cent. To keep the data payload cheap, this tool uses the last digits first, so the text is reversed internally.

Keep in mind:

Messaging with this method is visible to anyone who knows the codec. Be careful about what you send to a public ledger because it can't be deleted.

Unfortunately, nodes by default ignore transactions lower than 0.000001 XRB, and most block explorers and wallets truncate the full amount. NanoVault supports showing small amounts.

Bonus feature

You can use URL parameters ?xrbamount= or ?message= to prefill fields. Stay within specs to avoid app failure.

What's next

The charset could be extended by using a proprietary encoding algorithm that deletes control characters and adds lowercase letters instead.

This is only a case study. This way of sending messages has disadvantages like a limited charset and resulting in odd send amounts. But basically, wallets could be taught to read this. Sending these messages only makes sense it the decoding mechanism is widely deployed.

Sadly, on-chain messaging is not an objective of the NANO core. Native plain-text on-chain messaging would increase block size by only a few percent.
